Hi, I’m Christopher Mazzella and have been certified personal trainer for the last 18 years. I have been certified by AFAA in 1991, ACE 2001 and NASM in 2006.
Currently, I can be found personal training as well as teaching group fitness classes in Bergen County, NJ at at “The Gym” in Montvale, and “The Gym” in Englewood, NJ.
Throughout the years, my experience as a fitness instructor has ranged from fitness clubs, corporate fitness, private studio training as well as in home training and group fitness training. My clients have ranged from busy
executives, doctors, stock brokers, moms, teen athletes, dancers, you name it. Though all these groups are so diverse in lifestyle, one thing was the same- They ALL wanted results.
And results are what I have been dedicated to delivering! I feel it is essential to be passionate about what you do especially when people look toward you for guidance. My passion didn’t just come recently.
It started about 22 years ago.I originally started working out for myself to get stronger, gain muscle weight and to help prevent injury. Since I enjoyed playing youth hockey my body was taking a lot of hits and I was getting injured often. Shortly after I started resistance workouts, I felt more strong on my feet and it definitely help me not get injured as much. Right away, I was hooked! l also competed in bodybuilding competitions.
I remember as far back as I could, I always wanted to be muscular and fit. I had an intense desire, and intense passion to change my body into something better.
When I started working out I wasn’t naturally strong.
I DID NOT have good genetics.
I was a skinny fat guy. I had skinny arms and legs with a fat stomach (real nice).
When people see me now, they think that I have good genetics and some even say to me that I do not know what it is like to be overweight. BULL!

I am truly blessed to be able to work with people and change their lives. For over 18 years, I have been responsible for thousands of fat pounds shed, helped people get back from injuries, and have developed long lasting programs for optimum health and wellness.
I’ve faced and conquered many huge obstacles in my life. Extra body fat was certainly one of them. But along with that comes the obstacle of diminished self esteem and self confidence. To top it off, I suffered many teenage years with massive cystic acne that made me want to cover my face and never leave the house. I was afraid to show my arms and shoulders because of the eczema that covered them. Actually, it went from my arms, up my shoulders and to my neck.
I also had other health challenges such as allergies, chronic inflammation and arthritis. I later found out that the terrible back pain and stiffness was A.S. (Ankylosing Spondylitis) in my teen years.
Ankylosing spondylitis is a genetic autoimmune disease affecting the back causing chronic, inflammatory arthritis and stiffness. It is commonly known as bamboo spine. It mainly affects joints in the spine and the sacroilium in the pelvis, causing eventual fusion of the spine.
Keeping my body moving and strong with a fitness program involving full body exercises and movements for your total core is critical. I have used programs like Turbulence Training instead of power lifting like I once did. I put so much into the maintenance of keeping my body strong and fit, but now also concentrate on the flexibility component as well. It hurts me so much not to stretch!
What many people don’t know is that I still battle with two chronic pain conditions! I have been fighting the painful inflammation and stiffness of A.S (Ankylosing Spondylitis) and RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) for the last couple years. Dealing with these conditions has made me incredibly empathetic towards people with pain.

Any physicians that have treated me are amazed by my ability to be super-active and teach fitness classes despite living with Ankylosing Spondylitis.
They credit my intense fitness instruction for helping me battle and win my fight with chronic pain. Everyday it is like me doing rehab for myself.
I have to say it is greatly due to the use of optimal nutritional support with 4 Life Supplementation and one of my greatest tools: My Instant Flexibility Programs.

- Mazz demonstrates stretches in Instant Flexibility Class
Without my strength training, flexibility training and 4Life Advanced Immune Supplementation, I would not only be in terrible looking physical shape, but probably disabled or in a wheel chair. I thank God that I have been led down this path to help teach, motivate and positively impact others. As I persevere through similar challenges my clients encounter they are often inspired to change their lives for the better- FOREVER!

I know how it feels to have awesome core strength, and I also know how it feels to have serious back pain and poor core strength. Like I mentioned before, as early as 13 years old I started having lower back pain when playing hockey. I would have patterns of back pain especially after days or weeks of rest. I delt with it for many years if my life but only found it was my core that was weak!
Properly balanced core strength training wasn’t around when I played. Experts “kinda” knew since they would say to strengthen your abdominals and it would help the lower back pain. It helped, but the concept of total core fitness wasn’t mentioned. Flexibility wasn’t a concern of mine either. (ouch) It could have saved me many years of back pain and stiffness, not to mention it would have improved my game even more.
Supplementing my immune system with Transfer Factor supplementation is vitally important to me because as a I had compromised immunity and was always very sick. Also, I have been on Enbrel to treat my Anklyosing Spondylitis for about 2 years. What I am most excited about, is my ability to stay healthy while on Enbrel. Since Enbrel works by lowering your immune system, doctors warned me that the Enbrel could lower my resistance as well as keep me open to infection.
Thank God, I take Transfer Factor Tri-Factor Formula by 4Life which enables my immune system to be modulated (helps to brings down an overactive immune system as well as BOOSTS an underactive /low immune system). Transfer Factor is categorized as a immune modulator. It has the ability to do both of these actions.
Given my previously past low immunity, I definitely owe my now strong immune system to Transfer Factor.
I also do my best to keep high sanitary practices since as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, my daily interaction of teaching fitness classes puts me on a crowded battlefield of bacteria and viruses.
Besides the hand sanitizers and frequent hand washing, I also use a Transfer Factor Immune Spray and RioVida Burst packets. These have done an amazing job of keeping me healthy while faced with genetic and environmental challenges.

I am overcome with emotion reading this. None of us can fully understand what you experience every single day. As a more recently certified trainer, I credit my training sessions with you for my strong core and lean flexible body. I live in the same passionate world about fitness as you do. Keep up all the components that you do, so that you can keep yourself healthy and continue to strengthen others.

Hi Chris
All i got to say is, WOW Unfriggenbeliveable. You have AS and you can assume that position. Damn I wish I stayed in NJ , dude you should do a tour or something there’s a lot of AS people out there who do not know such things are possible. I am glad someone forwarded me this site. I thought my days of heavy workouts were numbered. Sigh I got so many questions. Man write a book on excercise (include AS specific chapters) and I will buy it!

Hey Iain,
My A.S. had me where I could hardly get out of be in some days. I used a cane for a little bit when my hips were really bad. I couldn’t do more than 1 mph. There are many things that I have done to get past it and start to own my life again. There were some times when I had little hope left because I was going down so fast. Thank God over the last 5 years I have been making a huge turn around with my A.S. but then was faced with a very painful chronic muscle condition. I’ll be glad to talk to you and help you if you like. Take care,

Hello Chris!
?
My name is Janis, I am from Europe, Latvia. I have AS 5 years, now i 28 years old, six years i training in GYM three times in week, when i feel good, i’m not fat, but my mass not changing, 80 kg all time, maybe bigger muscle mass helps me with my AS?. Now i use metotrexatum and methylprendnisalonum, and thinking about some Transfer factor product. What kind of Transfer products i need to use for my AS? and what for training? What is your formula
Thanks for help!

Hey Janis,
You asked about what I do for my AS…..Here it is…
MY TIPS FOR Life Better With AS
#1. Start Helping Yourself on a Biochemical and Immunity Level…. I use the Transfer Factor TriFactor Formula -
I have found that has been great for my AS and when I feel
inflammation all over. The TF definitely keeps my immunity at the right level (not overactive)
** NOT THE TRANSFER FACTOR PLUS – The Transfer Factor Plus has additional Immune Boosters you don’t need if you have AS or an auto immune challenge.
#2 Keep Hydrated!!
Your body NEEDS adequate water…above TF nutrients work awesome- just make sure your body can benefit by drinking MORE THAN ENOUGH WATER- set your GOAL WATER INTAKE SND CRUSH IT!
#3 Keep Moving and Stretching
I get so tired and wiped from the chronic pain that the only way to help it was to stretch the entire body! At least the big muscle groups for now and make sure to stretch in all 3 Planes of motion. Get a Free Video Showing sample stretches. Go visit http://InstantFlexibility.com
Have a great day!

Hi Chris,
I would like to get information about in home personal training. I was impressed with your progress you made despite having illness getting in your way. I haven’t been “well” for about 1-1/2 yrs now and it is taking a toll on me.
Thank you for your time.
