Check out the videos below from beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands. I did a series of combos that concentrated on a couple body parts but also involved the core muscles big time with each movement.
I set them up this way so you can follow along or at least learn the movements and put together your own exercise workout combos. I love using the bands since I am a reformed meat head bodybuilder / power lifter and I’ve found the bands to be awesome on my joints and connective tissue. Some may think using bands are lame and that they are for girls and that you can’t get a good physique training with bands ect…
That is ok, I thought the same back in the day, but over the last 9 years using exercise bands (mainly the JC BANDS) has helped transform my physique, get my joints moving better, and saved me a lot of pain and injury. I only wish I knew about them 20 years ago when I started!

Anyway, if you don’t use exercise bands or tubing at all for any part of your workout, I strongly urge you to try them out. They can be used in many different ways.
Different Uses:
The first way is you can use them for rehab or to warm up muscle groups and joints. Since the resistance is variable, and increases the further you are from them, you can position your body parts so that there isn’t such an extreme load at the beginning of the movement.
-You can use them to add resistance: Try adding additional band weight to your legs during a body weight pull up or dip by attaching them to your legs or waist and connecting them to the floor….TOTALLY SICK!
-You can add them to other traditional basic resistance exercises like the barbell squat or bench press. This can be done by “rigging” a band to the existing barbell or weights to a bench or rack to provide an extra boost of resistance right where you may not want it…..
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR:
Be careful! After showing some clients band work or telling people about the benefits of exercise band training, they usually went out and bought the cheapest and most flimsy pieces of crap I have ever seen. A couple bucks and there it is…NOOOOOOO! Don’t do it. You get what you pay for!!
**I mention the JC bands since they are the most quality ones I have ever used. You don’t have to worry about them snapping and breaking after a few reps.
You can get the best price and service on them when you go to this link and CLICK HERE.
They will be about 25 bucks for each band but believe me, it is worth it. Once you have them, they last for years maybe even out last you, with proper use. I have even seen some JC Bands at THE GYM where I train and teach that have been lasting years – even while being subject to thousands of reps!
Care and safety:
Common sense is needed. If you don’t have much, then stay far away from me with your bands in the gym!! In all seriousness, great care has to be taken when in public and you are working with the exercise bands if you have never used them before. I wish I didn’t have to tell people this, but when you are done with the exercise, slowly make your way toward where you have the band anchored to an object. Countless times I have see people just drop the bands under tension and just let them fly, propelling them like a missile toward their anchor point.
Real nice…
I consider myself a very forgiving person. If someone carelessly launched their band handle at me and damaged my eye permanently, I would probably have a hard time forgiving them right away, and they may want to hide from the gym or move.
Have some consideration. Thankfully I have never saw anyone get seriously hurt. Let’s keep it that way!
You would be shocked at some of the stuff I see people do at the gym. Do you think I should have blog post in the future about it? Let me know, I would love to hear your responses!
